Bonjour!
Hello Lovelys, I'm Daniella. This Blog is dedicated to Stephanie Perkins Novels, mainly Anna and the French Kiss. This is also the very first active blog of its kind. Feel free to message me, I'd love to have a chat! I hope you enjoy your stay:*
Anonymous asked: people say they see Harry Styles as Etienne. Well I have arguments against it. One, can Harry even act? I mean, act well? Imagine if he was cast, but did a crap job? And two, he's not from London, so he doesn't have a London accent. Sure, he can put one on. But thats not easy and it would seem weird because we all know and love his normal accent. If Anna was very made into a film, I see Charlie Rowe at Etienne:)

Lol I don’t think the accent would be a problem. I can do a London accent and I’m American. Plus if you haven’t already seen, Harry is the accent master. As for his acting, lol he didn’t do so well in Icarly which was a while ago. But he did fine in the Pepsi commercials recently. I’m sure with time he’ll get better (especially since the movie isn’t being made anytime soon). Just look at Justin Timberlake.
But as for fancasting, a lot of people fancast harry because that’s who they imagined. Not because of the acting aspect of it. And that’s great that you want Charlie Rowe, I think he’s awesome:) xx

In Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl, Cath is a Simon Snow fan. Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan, but for Cath, being a fan is her life—-and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids, it’s what got them through their mother leaving. Reading. Rereading.Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere. Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from the fandom, but Cath can’t let go. She doesn’t want to. Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn’t want to be roomates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who wants to talk about words. And she can’t stop worrying about her dad, who’s loving and fragile and has never really been alone. For Cath, the question is: Can she do this? Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? Writing her own stories? Open her heart to someone? Or will she just go on living inside someone else’s fiction?

GUYS THIS IS AN ACTUAL THING.

Anonymous asked: That said: you might want to give teenagers a bit more credit than that. Stephanie's books are "young adult" for a reason, not children's literature! And the titles are kind of a dead giveaway for the nature of the books. We don't need awful, cheesy, painful covers to reinforce that fact. These covers are well designed and colorful -- much more eye-catching than before. I don't know what makes you think that teenagers don't appreciate that fact. We can read book jackets, anyway! :\

Anonymous asked: To the other anon: I hated those other covers. I am a teenager, and I barely read the books because of them. My friends only read them because I made them, and even then they were hesitant -- because of the covers. The books are SO GREAT; it was frustrating to have covers that didn't match how lovely they are. Well, it was. These new covers are beautiful (and classy)! I'd only ever bought the books on kindle, because I hated the covers that much, but now I want to own them all in paperback.

Aha same, I bought it on my ereader first and then when i read it I bought 3 editions in physical form xD xx

Anonymous asked: I have to disagree with you on your /post/44239558619. As a marketing student, we are taught to sell products, but we also have to sell what they are about. Those new covers aren't top marketing material. The only thing that screams it being a ya book is the title. It is not appealing to the target audience and its definitely not classy. And of course they are going to sell it says "international bestseller", they sold plenty with the old covers. And to say it only sold because of recommendation

I used “classy” because that was the word Stephanie Perkins used to describe these covers xD And I actually dont think the other covers appealed well to teens. Every single on of my friends, upon seeing that cover, wanted to shove it back in my hands and not read it. Just because it looks like a teen novel doesnt mean that teens will like it. Taking a poll from my blog, friends, and the booktube community, most said that they’d prefer a minimalist cover over a cover with faces. And I did not say all of the copies were sold based on recommendation, I said most. And I didn’t want to come off as if I was speaking for the population, because I know there are people who didnt like the new covers, I’m just speaking for the people I know.

But that’s great that your friends and sister didn’t mind the cover and I totally respect your opinion and acknowledge that a lot of people share the same opinion. xx
